Atropine dose change ALS PCS 5.3

Question#: 573

Question:

With atropine changing to 1mg IV how does this affect the previous direction to give 0.4mg or 0.6mg Atropine? Currently we carry 0.6mg/ml. Would it be possible to give 1.2mg IV?

Answer:

Thank you for the question, after discussion with the Senior Medical Team, the consensus is that  1 mg of atropine is to be administered, as written in the directive. If the concentration on hand is 0.6 mg/ml, you would administer a volume of 1.7 ml.
