Returning to clinical practice after a leave

When a paramedic is inactive for more than 90 days, we undertake a Return to Clinical Practice (RTCP) assessment before they return to practice.

Each paramedic's individual needs will be evaluated by our education department to determine the return to practice plan. A learning plan will be developed and the paramedic will work through it. Following this, the paramedic participates in assessment scenarios to evaluate practice readiness.

Paramedics who are returning to clinical work must also complete any Core Continuing Medical Education that they have missed during their absence.

The process begins when your paramedic service completes the Return to Clinical Practice form.
