Returning to clinical practice after a leave

When a paramedic is inactive for more than 90 days, we undertake a Return to Clinical Practice (RTCP) assessment before they return to practice.

Each paramedic will work with an education coordinator to determine their return to practice needs. Together they develop a learning plan and work through it. Following this, the paramedic participates in assessment scenarios to evaluate practice readiness.

Paramedics who are returning to clinical work must also complete any Core Continuing Medical Education that they have missed during their absence.

The process begins when your paramedic service completes the Return to Clinical Practice form.
