Patient vs Service Glucometer
Question# 756
Is it acceptable to use a pt's reading from their freestyle libre (or other app based glucometer reading) vs manually using the service glucometer. What is Base Hospital's direction in this scenario
Answer:
It is best practice to consider patient's glucometer reading within context of patient's presentation and if there is a discrepancy or suspect device malfunction, confirm w/ service glucometer.
This leaves room for clinical judgement. It is fine to accept the reading unless there is doubt that it is accurate or congruent with signs/symptoms (i.e. normal reading with altered LOA).
