A final farewell to RPPEO's first Medical Director, Dr. Justin Maloney
Dr. Justin Maloney helped to shape the emergency health care system by this vision, bringing 911 service to Ottawa and helping it spread through much of Canada in the 1980s, establishing an Advanced Care Paramedic scope of practice in our region during the 1990s and introducing CPR to the high school curricula of students across Canada through the ACT Foundation in the 2000s. Dr. Maloney died on May 2, 2022, after a short time with cancer and a long, influential career in emergency medicine at the Ottawa Hospital. He was 74.
