Announcing A New Clinical App for Ontario Paramedics
A new clinical app is on its way! Here are the details:
The Ontario Base Hospital Group is pleased to inform you that a new clinical app for Ontario paramedics is coming!
All new app, all new name
In anticipation of creating a new app, we distributed a survey this spring about the naming of a new app. Thank you for completing our survey. We received lots of great suggestions for the new clinical app!
Paramedic PocketBook+ will be an entirely new tool, built from the ground up with the features and functionality that paramedics, base hospitals and paramedic services suggested.
At the beginning of 2021, the OBHG working group integrated all the suggestions that OBHG has received over the years from paramedics, base hospitals and paramedic services into the specifications for a brand new, reliable mobile clinical application.
Paramedic PocketBook+ will solve the perceived reliability issue inherent in the old app. The existing Ontario Paramedic Clinical Guide App (OPCG) has been a useful tool for many Ontario paramedics. Unfortunately, the configuration of OPCG has meant that users face delays with downloading when they open the app. This made the app feel unreliable because it wasn’t ready when paramedics needed it.
With Paramedic PocketBook+ content will always be at the ready when users open the app.
We are working with the selected vendor Red Square Labs to build this new app from scratch because that is the best way to ensure that the new app meets the needs of paramedics. The build is progressing well, and we anticipate making the transition to Paramedic PocketBook+ in the coming months.
As we have additional information, we will provide you with more updates. Should you have any questions or suggestions, please contact the RPPEO.
