Respiratory Distress

Submission ID: 135

Question:

If my patient is in severe respiratory distress with crackles throughout, but I am suspecting pneumonia due to incident history, should I still go ahead with nitro and CPAP?

Answer:

Your clinical judgement/differential diagnosis should guide your treatment with clear documentation on your ACR.
If you believe there was a pulmonary edema component then treat with CPAP as per the ALS PCS.
