Ketorolac - Accepted Routes

Question#: 553

Question:

The Ketorolac vial labels state "IM" route only. Is it acceptable to utilize this preparation intravenously (diluted of course)

Answer:

Intravenous ketorolac is supported in the medical literature and in clinical practice. Toradol IM has the same ingredients as Ketorolac Injection. Please dilute 1:9 with normal saline prior to IV administration. The Medical Directors have discussed this concept and approve the off label use accepted by allied health professionals and hospitals across Canada.
