Can I transport a VSA patient to the PCI center?

Question:

When a patient was STEMI positive prior to becoming VSA and stays VSA, can a paramedic bypass to a PCI center?

Answer:

A paramedic may only transport a patient to a PCI center if the patient is a ROSC. We do not want to mobilize a PCI team just in case the VSA patient is a ROSC. We want the patient to be a confirmed ROSC. If a patient is transported as a VSA and you have ROSC en-route, it is acceptable to reroute and transport the patient to a PCI center, if all other criteria of the bypass are met.
