I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT THE CURRENT CODE ROSC DESTINATION GUIDELINE. WITH A PATIENT WHO DOES NOT MEET THE STEMI BYPASS BUT IS STEMI POSITIVE PRIOR TO "MEDICAL CARDIAC ARREST OF PRESUMED CARDIAC ETIOLOGY WITH PT GREATER OR EQUAL TO 18Y/O" . WHAT WOULD THE MOST APPROPRIATE DESTINATION BE IF THEY WERE TO ROSC IN THE FIELD?
Thank you for your question. If the patient did not meet the guidelines for STEMI bypass prior to cardiac arrest followed by a ROSC, than the appropriate destination would be the closed hospital.
If the patient did not meet STEMI bypass initially but progressed to STEMI positive followed by cardiac arrest and ROSC, than the appropriate destination would be the PCI center unless contraindicated as listed in the STEMI Hospital Bypass Protocol in Appendix A of the BLS Standards.
As always if you're unsure or have any questions regarding an appropriate destination, the BHP is always available for consultation.
